J'ai passé devant ta porte

Mon cœur t'appelle ( AKA J'ai passé devant ta porte ) Cleoma Breaux Falcon Vocals Guitar - Joe Falcon Accordion. Recorded at Atlanta, Georgia, on April 19th. 1929 OKey Records 900004. AKA and see "Mon Coeur T'Appelle." Cajun, Waltz. USA, southwestern Louisiana. D Major (Greenblatt): G Major (Francois). Standard tuning. One part. The very popular old Cajun song expresses "grief at the unexpected death of a loved one...(it is) a much loved waltz (that) is an essential part of many Cajun musicians' repertoires" (Brown, 1983, pg. 18). Raymond Francois (1990) relates that his father remembered the song being played at the time the Titanic sank, though the tune predated that disaster. Source for notated version: Elton "Bee" Cormier and Raymond Francois (La.) [Francois]. Francois (Ye Yaille, Chere!), 1990; pgs. 167-168. Greenblatt (The Cajun Fiddle Tune Book), 1985; pg. 7. Bee Records BEE-104, Elton "Bee" Cormier.

Raymond Francois says that his father heard the song being played at the time when news of the Titanic sinking was broken, though the song long predates 1912, by many years. Cajun people should be proud.. unlike the English Americans that have allowed their folk songs to be credited to Africans. "
